Well Designed Games is a boutique board game store and board game design company. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Well Designed Games is by and for those who love board games.

Game Design Philosophy

Good games are fun. There are as many forms and formats of games as there are game designers (and there are a lot of designers – see http://www.boardgamegeek.com) but any game that is fun is a successful game.

Here at Well Designed Games, we try to follow some basic general rules when developing games. They are:
Easy to learn – Easy to learn means quicker to play. Though many complicated games are fun to play, a rule book that is the size of a novella can scare people off. We aim for a rule book that is at most two sides of a single sheet of paper.
High replayability – the most treasured games I have are different every time I play them.
Fun – This is most important. An easily learned game that is always unique is no good if it’s not fun to play.

We sell games at Well Designed Games as well, through our website only. We only sell games that:
We think are very good. There are literally thousands of games out there, and figuring out what are the good games can be difficult. Since it isn’t easy to get games into Thailand, we’ve chosen to import only those games we feel meet the design criteria we’ve set for ourselves.
Are made by Well Designed Games. We make a few games a year, and sell them through our website.
