A fairly complicated but quite fun game, Thurn and Taxi is a game of making creating delivery routes and expanding service territories in 16th Century Bavaria. There are a number of ways to make points, and several strategies that each player can use.

Game play is not complicated: players must draw a city card and must play a city card. City cards are played in a row, and new cards must be placed next to a city on either end of the row. The new cities must be connected to the end city on the game board, which limits a player’s options and makes each row of cards a route along connected cities. The true complexity of the game comes when the player decides the route is complete – there are different ways to place post offices along the route, and several ways to score points.

Game play is about 1 hour, and the rules are well-written and clearly explained.
